My dad’s favourite moment is the one in which Paul O’Brien hits the ball first time on the ground and gets a goal against Tipperary. This goal represents everything that my dad always harped on about in hurling – no need for the solo run into no-man’s-land, hit it first time, perfect the simple skills, that’s how it was won in 1959.
